CAP Limits in Telecom Subscriber Database Design
نویسنده
چکیده
While the notion of a Distributed DBMS has been familiar to the IT industry for several decades, within telecom networks the subscriber data management based on DDBMS technology is a novel addition to a service provider's infrastructure. Service providers are used to telecom networks that are efficient, reliable and easy to maintain and operate, in part thanks to the node model used in designing such networks. A DDBMS spanning a large geographical area however incurs into distributed systems issues not previously seen in telecom networks. Identifying and delivering the right set of trade-offs that satisfies the service providers’ needs while staying within the known physical bounds of a distributed system is therefore crucial if DDBMS are to conquer the subscriber management space within telecom networks.

Making India a Telecom Manufacturing Hub: Emerging Issues and Challenges
Indian telecom services industry has been witnessing a stupendous growth since 1990s. Over the years, subscriber base has grown steadily and it crossed 950 million marks in March 2012. India with second largest subscriber base also offers one of the lowest call tariffs in the world. But in the euphoria of high growth in services, the equipment manufacturing received least priority. India mainly...

متن کاملEIDA: An Energy-Intrusion aware Data Aggregation Technique for Wireless Sensor Networks
Energy consumption is considered as a critical issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Batteries of sensor nodes have limited power supply which in turn limits services and applications that can be supported by them. An efcient solution to improve energy consumption and even trafc in WSNs is Data Aggregation (DA) that can reduce the number of transmissions. Two main challenges for DA are: (i)...
متن کاملATM over ADSL probe in Telecom Italia environment
This paper covers access network performance analysis by deploying ATM over ADSL within Telecom Italia experimental department “EXANET” (Experimental ATM Network). In this scenario, data traffic leaves customer site as ATM traffic running over ADSL modem links, gets aggregated via DSLAM (DSL Access Multiplexer) at the central office (CO) and then dropped onto the high-speed ATM switching fabric...
